Correct Mask for Your Skin Type
I cannot stress this enough. Having the correct face mask is the difference between having better skin or simply wasting your money. Therefore, take your time and do research before making that purchase.
Oily or Combination skin – For this skin type you should go for a clay based face mask. This will help reduce excess sebum and control shine. It will give a soft feeling to the the skin and tighten the pores.
Dry skin – For this skin type you should choose a mask that will hydrate the skin. Naturally I would advise cream or gel based masks as they will help hydrate the skin and add moisture.
Dull skin – If you get the correct face mask for this skin type, it will certainly do wonders to your skin. Ideally you should go for an exfoliating mask. This will slough off dead skin from the surface and reveal 'nicer' and brighter skin and give a much clearer complexion.
Normal skin – If you have normal skin then I guess your lucky because you can choose from cream, gel or clay based masks. However, be sure to go for one that addresses your skin condition, for example, spots or rough patches.
How to Use
I would advice that you only use a face mask once a week. Overdoing it can make the skin look worse. For example it can strip the natural oils. This then triggers the body to compensate by producing its own oil, in the end you either get clogged up oily skin or even dryer and itchy skin (depending on your skin type)
Firstly, I would recommend you cleanse the skin, then if possible steam your face. Steaming the face allows your pores to really open up which means the ingredients can really penetrate deep into the skin. Once you've done this, apply the face mask in a circular motion and be sure to avoid the delicate eye area. Let the mask sit on the face for at least 15 to 20 minutes then wash your face with lukewarm water. Finally to finish things off apply your favourite moisturiser. Doing this weekly regime will really enhance the quality of your skin and will certainly take your skin to the next level. I use a face mask once a week and can swear by it. Give it a try, I promise you will not be disappointed.
